The CodeLab Foundation is a non-profit corporation of New York State, created for these purposes:
- making the CodeLab service freely available to all non-profit educational institutions,
- furthering the development of the capabilities of the CodeLab service,
- making CodeLab available for research and development of computer science educational applications and practices,
- helping CodeLab interoperate within the rich ecosystem of computer science learning tools, and
- eventually making the CodeLab source free and open source
